BCDLAA Executive – Director

I am currently in my 29th year as a BC educator, still very engaged and loving the daily challenges! Trained as an elementary teacher at UBC I traveled to ‘northern BC’ only to learn that Vanderhoof was actually just at the center of our province! I spent 12 years in a variety of classrooms and communities before taking on my first administrative role as principal of a small elementary school, grades 4 -7. From there I moved to the vice principal role at the high school in Vanderhoof, grades 8-12, and then to Fraser Lake as principal of the local high school, grades 4-12. For the past 5 years I have been with EBUS Academy, the SD#91 DL program based in Vanderhoof.

DL has been an important part of our district for the past 25 years and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this program and a part of the wider DL community throughout BC and beyond. The opportunities for students to customize their learning pathways through our DL schools continue to increase and gain wider acceptance as legitimate ‘choices’ opposed to an ‘alternative’ option and I am excited to be a part of the BCDLLA executive as our association continues to promote and enhance distributed learning. I look forward to serving on behalf of all our members, their programs and the students of British Columbia.
